Vanessa Morata (Málaga 1992) began to paint in oil at the age of 12, a technique in which she demonstrated great skill. After studying Fine Arts in Malaga, the artist began to participate in numerous exhibitions (Madrid, Rome, Hong Kong, Los Angeles…) creating an international reputation like his predecessors Javi Calleja, Imon Boy or Julio Acab .
Vanessa Morata creates artworks that open the doors to a world of accumulation and a sense of disorder in which it is impossible to separate the main figures from the multiple elements distributed in each piece. We thus find a certain surrealist atmosphere enveloping rooms filled with pop iconography and strident colors. References to the culture of entertainment and compulsive consummism, with a balanced portion of homage and criticism.
With “Full Storage”, Vanessa Morata presents an exhibition of oil paintings at Adda Gallery Paris, in which she uses the iconic television series of the 90s generation as a connecting element and, more importantly, the familiarity that their scenarios generate in us. It is in these settings, places that we artificially recognize as familiar.
The artist composes the final image, filling these spaces to the brim with references to contemporary entertainment culture and, therefore, consummism and the importance these elements hold in our memory.
