Life is made of moments that we archive in image format in our memory so that we can refer to them quickly and easily. A kind of window with views of our memories that we only need to look into to connect with, for example, the childhood or youth that we long for. Sometimes, when we look inside there is an image that repeats itself, a recurring dream. This place to which the subconscious frequently goes is a place that comforts us, that gives us peace and calm. It can be a garden, a beach or a room full of smells, songs, bottles of wine and people we know without needing to recognize them. In psychology they call it The Jahori Window, a tool that serves to illustrate the processes of human interaction and understand in depth the relationship between oneself and those around us.
This series of paintings represents that space where our consciousness rests. The strokes are irregular, blurred, the colors are blurred and the iconography repeats organically. Jazz sounds inside them, an instrumental melody that is repeated over and over again and that gives movement and rhythm to its forms.
“Windows from inside” is an ode to my memories, to rebuilding the present by learning from the mistakes of the past. The 13 paintings that make up this exhibition have been created on canvas and reused materials. It is an exercise of change, of evolution being faithful to the past, of respect for the essence, for innocence, for desire, for dreams and love for new beginnings.
