MARK BODÉ (New York, 1953) returns to Europe after his last exhibition in 2017 at the Angoulême Comic Strip Festival.
Invited for the 3rd time in France by ADDA Gallery, he presents here new pieces based on the important figures of graffiti from the 80s to the present day.
We find there, transformed into Bodé characters, artists like Dondi White, Lady Pink, Seen or Os Gemeos and many works inspired by the original photographs of Martha Cooper. All on maps of New York, canvases, prints and drawings on paper.
VAUGHN BODÉ (New York, 1941 – San Francisco, 1975) important author of American underground comic books of the 70s with Gilbert Shelton and Robert Crumb, had a great influence on the emerging New York Hip hop scene and the precursor artists of graffiti . On Vaughn’s death, his son Mark faithfully took over his father’s pen and has watched over his stylistic heritage ever since.
The Bodé style and the characters that made it famous: Bubble Letters, Broad Bodé women and Cheez Wizard, have been inspiring graffiti and street art artists around the world for 50 years.
Original drawings by Vaughn Bodé will also be exhibited.
